Former Saskatchewan MLAs In 2002 some former MLAs contacted the Speaker's Office about the formation of such an organization separate from the Saskatchewan Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. The most recent meeting in this regard took place in Regina at the end of April 2004 and was attended by a good cross-section of former MLAs. It was generally agreed that an association authorized by a Private Member's Bill would be the preferred method of organization. It was also felt that as many former members as possible should be contacted to get them involved.
A number of individuals volunteered their services to help this process along:
- Vi Stanger agreed to act as a contact person for former NDP MLAs. (Tel: 306-586-6202; violet.s@sasktel.net)
- Ralph Katzman agreed to the same for former Conservative MLAs. (Tel:306-931-2468 or fax 306-931-1200).
- Dwain Lingenfelter (Tel: 403-613-0398 or dwain.lingenfelter@nexeninc.com) and Bill Boyd (bbmail@sasktel.net) expressed their willingness to provide whatever assistance they could.
- Lindy Kasperski offered to devote a portion of his website to Former MLA Association business.
Over the last few months the Speaker's office has provided logistical support to the group and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Contact person is:
